Lake Superior, Montreal River descent, Ontario

There are rare occasions when one is fortunate to visit and view special places because of their own location. This is one of them and has been visited often. The drive on Hwy 17 just north of Sault Ste Marie is spectacular especially in the fall foliage season, however there are few words that describe the feeling one has when driving south towards the Montreal Harbour on the Trans Canada Highway, with Lake Superior directly ahead on this two mile descent. Have stopped several times at the bottom ( small lodging location ) to feel the cold waters, have a burger, and to retain this Superior experience.
(about 75 miles from Sault Ste Marie, 45 miles from Wawa)

Note, that it is not just major attractions that retain memories. This is why Travel to me is so important, as one has the opportunity to experience new horizons. You actually do retain those thoughts that should never be erased.

Trip Report
Ah, first get to Sault Ste Marie, Canada. Then take Hwy 17 north to Thunder Bay. There are exceptional views along the drive and it is worth going at least as far as Wawa. Returning south, signage will indicate that Montreal River or Harbor is ahead, but you really will notice the descent to the Harbour and I certainly hope it will bring you similar feelings as it does to me. Plan on a full day trip ( return trip ) as there are many scenic stops along the way.
