John`s Comments
Balboa Avenue runs from the Downtown area over to Casco Viejo. It is a rather long walk but there are several scenic stops including the Park where a statue of Balboa is erected, along the way. The downtown area itself has it`s own shopping centre, casinos, many highrise condos and restaurants(including Bennigans and Hard Rock Cafe). The walkway on Balboa Avenue for the most part has a major sidewalk that runs beside the Pacific Ocean and you are able to see ships awaiting the transit of the Panama Canal and view the rising or lowering of the tides(up to 10 feet).

John`s Recollections
This may be too long to walk for many (about 3 miles) however I took my time, visited Balboa statue and had lunch at one of many restaurants along the way. There are many sites to see and the ocean vessels awaiting transit to the Panama canal provided for a reason to sit at one of the benches by the road and Ocean. Here you can walk along a main street in Panama beside the Pacific, and at some times even smell the raw sewage as it enters through the streams. That is rare, but it is also Panama. I found the walk just great and it passed hotels that we would rarely see in North America, past statues with centuries of history and as I was heading towards Casco Viejo, a destination that few are able to travel to.
